The crown jewel of La Sirena, Cabernet Sauvignon is Heidi's favorite varietal to work with, and the wine she is best-known for throughout her career. This Cabernet has all the makings of Heidi's classic, elegant and balanced style, produced from some of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley. Opulent and lush as a young wine, it's also a favorite among collectors for its age-worthiness.
Expansive on the palate with gorgeous flavors of concentrated berry jam and pomegranate, accentuated by hints of mocha, cedar, and sweet toasty French oak. Velvety texture with amazing length and a seamless finish - tannins are very fine and integrated. A big, silky Cab that has it all.
1.5L Magnum, signed in wood box
The wine is a very dark inky blackberry color, with ripe aromatics of lush berries, elegant dried cherry, currants, black tea, graphite, and a kiss of sweet French Oak. Across the palate, it's impressively seamless and explosive with pure flavors that mirror the aromas.

Cabernet Sauvignon is our flagship wine for La Sirena and continues to display the elegance, balance, and beautiful opulence expected from Heidi Barrett. “Cabernet Sauvignon is what I am best known for and what I have built my 30+ year reputation on.” (Also her favorite wine to make). Cabernet lovers will recognize the winemaking style which is quite similar to the Screaming Eagle wines Heidi made in the past with a very similar blend profile.
A deeply hued garnet color, with gorgeous aromas of black cherry, cassis, wild blackberry, black tea, and a complex floral note, layered and enhanced by French Oak nuances. Across the palate, it’s luxurious and elegant, yet powerful, with flavors to match the aromatics. Flavors linger with a long balanced profile that expands as the wine continues to open. While delicious and impressive now, it will also be a wine that can age and bring enjoyment for many years to come.
The 2016 Barrett & Barrett Cabernet Sauvignon makes an immediate impression with a very dark black ruby color in the glass. A primary aroma of elegant black raspberry is accompanied by notes of cassis, plum, vanilla bean, wet stone, and subtle toasted spices. On the palate, wild blackberry pie comes to mind in this concentrated, beautifully ripe and structured Cab. A big wine with balance, complexity and textural, integrated tannins leading to a long, powerful and silky finish. Voluptuous and intriguing on release, it will surely age and develop for many years to come.
The 2015 Barrett & Barrett Cab, re-tasted in early 2023, presents a powerful and complex nose - definitely some more savory characteristics along with the fruit. The blackberry jam fruit character is joined with meaty and earthy tones, like mushroom, soy/hoisin sauce, shiso leaf, bramble, and minerality. On the palate, it is extremely concentrated - 2015 was a strong drought year, so we had lower crop, but incredible concentration of flavor and texture that is evident here. It’s savory yet juicy on the palate, reminiscent of blackberry pie with a little extra salt.
Leading with very appealing berry-cherry aromas, the 2014 Barrett & Barrett Cab smells delicious and well-developed already, though it can definitely age quite a bit longer. The opulent and complex nose presents notes of plum, cocoa, cinnamon, peppercorn, and anise that seem to evolve with each sniff. On the palate, it is dense and rich, with a smooth texture, nice acidity, and integrated tannins leading into an impressively long finish. Very rewarding to drink this one now, though we think it will age another 20 years at least.
Graceful, understated, refined – a beautifully made wine from a challenging vintage. Fruit notes are cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry, with characteristics of black tea, graphite, wet stone, herbs, and a touch of chalky dust. Much lighter in texture, it has a supple feel and good weight – it opens with a restrained and lightly perfumed nose, flows gently with silkiness on the palate, and fades with a nuanced, medium length finish.
