Our latest release of this elegant, complex & food-friendly white wine. With our La Sirena Chardonnay, we’ve been able to explore some of the most interesting vineyard sites in the Russian River AVA of Sonoma County, one of the best places in the world for this varietal. This vintage, we chose Lone Oak vineyards in Healdsburg – a prestigious site with steep hillsides of volcanic clay soil, where these gnarled Rued-clone Chardonnay vines were planted in the early 1970s. A perfect fit to make our desired style of aromatic, fruit-forward Chardonnay with tons of character, bright acidity and hints of tropical flavors.
Tasting Notes:
Pale light straw color with enticing aromas of varietal fruit character – tart green apple, preserved lemon, and Asian pear. Flows elegantly across the palate with an added nuance of biscuit from the lees stirring while in barrel. As the wine breathes in the glass, an appealing tropical note of mango emerges. Medium body and mouthwatering acid balance, with a barely-there touch of oak. Reminiscent of Chablis with nice mineral notes and subtle texture. A delightfully food-friendly Chardonnay that was barrel aged on the lees for 10 months.
